Asst. Athletics Director for Student Athlete Dev. & Coach

Johnson State College seeks an individual to serve as the Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development and Sport Coach. 

  • Work with student-athletes through programming to provide life skills support to student athletes in areas of academics, athletics, personal and career development, and service. 
  • Oversee all Johnson State College coaches for recruitment and retention efforts including annual goal setting, programming, budget, assessment, retention and yield.
  • Serve as the liaison between the admissions and athletics departments.
  • The sport coach responsibility will be determined based on the applicant's experiences in the collegiate athletic setting in the role of head coach of a current sport offered or one that will be added in the future growth of the department. The coach will be involved in all aspects of the sport program, including team sport skills and techniques, preparation of daily practices and season plan, ordering supplies and uniforms and compiling of team and roster statistics and information. 
  • The head coach will be responsible for monitoring academic performance of student-athletes as well as initializing and supervising community service projects in coordination with the athletic department.
  • A primary function of the sport coach will be the recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes. 
  • Johnson State College currently sponsors fifteen intercollegiate varsity sports in men's and women's basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, track and field, men's golf, women's softball, and women's volleyball. Bachelor's degree, Masters preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years college coaching and recruiting experience required.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, recruiting at the college level, and administrative experience a must.
  • This candidate will have the knowledge and adherence to comply with NCAA Division III rules and regulations. Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literate.
  • Highly motivated, organized, strong supervisory skills and experience with intercollegiate athletics.
