The Neurology Specialty Pharmacist Clinician is responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients cared for by the outpatient specialty clinics, primarily focused in the Multiple Sclerosis clinic. This includes (but is not limited to) medication training and education, therapeutic drug monitoring, and vaccination administration; as well as providing drug information to healthcare providers and patients.
The clinician will apply specialized knowledge of pharmacotherapy to direct patient care, teaching, consultation and research activities. The pharmacist clinician will provide clinical leadership through policy development and program oversight.
Education: Doctor of Pharmacy and completion of an ASHP accredited pharmacy practice residency.
Knowledge/Special Skills: Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills are required. The pharmacist clinician must have the ability to exercise sound professional judgment, set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergent requests. This position requires a high degree of specialized knowledge of clinical therapeutics for care of the neurology patient. The pharmacist clinician frequently applies a high degree of analytical, interpretive and evaluative skills as part of clinical care responsibilities.
Current licensure, or eligibility, as a pharmacist in the state of Vermont is required.
